The Used

The Used have come to us from Orem, Utah with an amazing debut album, filled with groundbreaking, emotional anthems and incredibly powerful, tear-jerking ballads.

The boys from The Used haven't had it easy. They've been through alot, including, living rough and drug abuse, the details of which are reflected in the lyrics of their songs. Surviving on other people, they over-came alot to get to where they are now. Unlike most "emo/screamo" bands, however, frontman, Bert strongly believes that writing about over-coming something is "a lot more dramatic, than writing about, like, negative..."...negative what? We'll never know. Another thing that sets their music and over-all attitude apart from other bands is their ability to stand up and be proud of themselves no matter what, instead of complaining about what's wrong in their lives.

The name, The Used came from their friends mainly. After they got signed, they moved out of Utah and wrote and practised in a shed without communicating much with people that had helped them through some pretty harsh times. When they came back, they were accused alot of "using" people. As guitarist and best friend to Bert, Quinn Allman puts it, "the term "used" got thrown around alot like we were just using our friends and so it was kinda like a big, you know *blows a kiss*"..."play on words you know" Bert adds with an extremely characteristic "Bert giggle". Make of that, what you will but in the end they decided to call their band "Used", which unfortunately was taken by a band from Boston so Bert and co. were forced to add a "The".

To them, music is their way of expressing themselves and breaking away from conformity. Individualism is probably one of their most important words.

Despite, Bert McCracken's tendancy to be physically sick on stage, The Used's strongest advantage (apart from their unique song-writing ability of course) is their awesome stage presence. They take over a stage and make it their own like no other band.

If you haven't heard The Used before...WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?...a good first song to listen to would be the biographical, The Taste Of Ink, they released off their self titled LP, check it out coz once you hear that, you'll be hooked, and if you're not, you need to sort your fucking music taste out mannn!

The band are the best of friends and share an incredible bond, which will hopefully, never break because, they are without doubt, the most original, magical band around.
